for cello, double bass and live electronics
Two continuously transforming sounds encounter each other. They merge, interact and give rise to new sounds. These interactions are acoustically mediated by the space, the live electronics and by means of “digitally augmented” listening. The electronics, which are heard by the musicians through bone conducting headphones, serve as a form of target sound, which retains transiently appearing harmonic material. Both sounds converge yet miss each other and in this sonorous motion they create new target sounds. The material played by the musicians consists solely of multiphonics. For the purpose of finding these multiphonics, I developed a program that facilitates the search for playable sequences of mulitphonics that have certain harmonic relations.
